AI video analytics, industry by industry

AI video analytics by industry means matching detection models to what a site must actually see. IndoAI covers seven priority sectors in depth: manufacturing, retail, warehousing, housing societies, education, healthcare and construction. Sixteen further sectors are served on request. Every deployment runs inference on premise, with video and metadata held in India.

Most vendor industry pages are the same page with the noun swapped. This one is not organised that way. A sector earns a page here only when there is something genuinely different about it: a placement constraint, an Indian regulatory hook, or a number that only holds in that setting. Everything else is listed honestly as served, without a page pretending to be one.

The reason is practical. The camera decides what can be resolved. The model decides what is detected. Those two things barely change between a factory and a warehouse. What changes is where you mount, what you point at, and which alert goes to whom. So the useful question is not which industry you are in, it is which of those three you have not yet answered.

AI video analytics by industry: the seven sectors we cover in depth

These are the sectors with the deepest deployment history, pre-built kits, and enough field experience that we can argue about placement rather than guess at it.

Kit available

Manufacturing and factories

45 mapped use cases across safety, production, gate and yard. PPE, fire, fall, restricted zone and unsafe act detection are live today.

Kit available

Retail stores and chains

Shrinkage at the till, exit without billing, footfall, queue length and dwell time by aisle. Works on the cameras a store already has.

Page in build

Warehousing and logistics

Truck turnaround time, dock occupancy, loading evidence for damage disputes, forklift and pedestrian proximity, and gate ANPR tied to the weighbridge.

Page in build

Housing societies and gated communities

Gate ANPR against a resident whitelist, visitor and staff attendance, tailgating at the wicket gate, and perimeter line crossing after hours.

Page in build

Schools, colleges and campuses

Perimeter and gate control, bus bay safety, crowd density at assembly and dispersal, and after-hours intrusion. Consent handling is the design constraint here, not accuracy.

Page in build

Hospitals and healthcare

Fall detection in wards and corridors, restricted area control for pharmacy and records, queue length at OPD registration, and fire and smoke as a supplement to statutory systems.

Page in build

Construction sites

Helmet and harness compliance, working at height, excavation edge protection, plant and pedestrian proximity, and material movement at the gate on temporary power.

How to read the tags

Kit available means there is a costed bundle in the live catalogue covering cameras, Edge Box, storage, mounts, cabling, UPS and PoE, which the AI Adviser will scale to your actual site. Page in build means the deployments are real but the detailed page is still being written. Ask and we will send the current scope note instead.

Sixteen sectors served on request

These run on the same platform and the same models. They do not have dedicated pages because we would rather list them accurately than publish sixteen near-identical pages that help nobody. Each line below names the specific thing that sector usually asks for first.

Sectors served, and the first thing each one asks for
SectorTypical opening use case
Ports, container yards and CFSGate ANPR on container numbers, yard slot occupancy, quay and RTG safety zones, and truck turnaround. Our Chief Strategy Officer holds a doctorate in seaport security, so this sector gets first-hand review.
Banks, ATMs and NBFC branchesATM lobby loitering, cash handling zone monitoring, shutter and vault door state, and queue management at counters.
Petrol pumps, CNG and EV chargingNozzle and forecourt safety, smoking detection, drive-off ANPR, and bay occupancy for charging queues.
Cold chain, food processing and dairyHairnet, glove and apron compliance, door open duration on cold rooms, pest and foreign object flags, and hygiene zone entry.
Pharmaceutical manufacturingGowning compliance at airlocks, line clearance evidence, and area access logs that survive an audit trail review.
Hotels and hospitalityLobby and back-of-house access control, banquet crowd density, kitchen fire and smoke, and service corridor loitering.
Commercial real estate and IT parksTenant-wise footfall, parking occupancy, tailgating at turnstiles, and after-hours floor occupancy for energy decisions.
Automotive dealerships and workshopsBay cycle time, vehicle in and out ANPR, customer waiting area dwell, and lift and pit safety.
Quick commerce dark storesPick accuracy at the packing bench, rider dwell at the handover point, and cold chain door discipline.
Jewellery retailCounter-level tray handling, customer to staff ratio, shutter state, and duress patterns. High shrinkage value per event makes the maths easy.
Data centresRack aisle access, two-person rule enforcement, tailgating at man traps, and hot work in the plant room.
Power, substations and solar parksPerimeter intrusion across long fence lines, panel theft, vegetation encroachment, and switchyard restricted zones.
Mining, quarries and aggregatesHaul road proximity, tipping area exclusion zones, operator PPE, and weighbridge ANPR.
Cement, steel and heavy industryHigh temperature zone exclusion, crane path clearance, hot metal handling, and stack smoke opacity.
Textile and garment unitsLine balancing by station occupancy, aisle obstruction, needle guard compliance, and fire load monitoring in godowns.
Public transport depots and terminalsBay occupancy, fuelling area safety, crew attendance, and overnight perimeter.

Sectors we can quote but do not claim depth in

Listed for completeness. The models work; we simply have less field history here, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

Two things we deliberately do not do

We do not take on airside aviation or defence work that requires certifications we do not hold. And we do not sell into the single-home consumer market. Both would stretch the claim past what we can stand behind, and a claim we cannot stand behind is worse for you than a gap.

What actually differs between industries

1. Pixel density, not resolution

A 4K camera at the wrong distance is worse than a 2MP camera at the right one. Face identification needs roughly 80 pixels per metre across the face; plate reading needs comparable density across the plate. A society gate at 6 metres and a factory gate at 18 metres therefore need different lenses, not different cameras. Under-specify the placement and accuracy collapses in low light long before anyone blames the model. See the glossary entry on false positive rate for why this shows up as nuisance alerts rather than missed events.

2. Who receives the alert

In a factory, a PPE alert goes to a shift supervisor who can act in ninety seconds. In a housing society, a gate alert goes to a guard with no authority to stop anyone. Same model, completely different value. Alert routing is an industry difference; detection is not.

3. Whether the video is personal data

PPE, fire, forklift proximity and dock occupancy involve no identity question. Face recognition, attendance and visitor management do. From 13 November 2026, Rule 4 of the DPDP Rules requires a clear consent notice wherever identifiable individuals are captured for those purposes. That single distinction changes the design more than the sector does.

4. What the site can physically support

Construction runs on temporary power and moves every fortnight. A data centre has redundant power and will not let you drill. A port has 400 metre cable runs. These constraints decide the appliance placement and the network design, which is the part of a deployment that actually goes wrong. Read how IndoAI works for the standard topology, and the RTSP and ONVIF entries for how existing cameras are brought in.

Common questions

Which industries does IndoAI actually have deployments in?

Manufacturing, retail, warehousing, housing societies, education and healthcare carry the bulk of deployed cameras. Construction is growing. The sixteen sectors listed as served on request are ones where the underlying models are the same and only the camera placement, zone geometry and alert routing change.

Do I need different cameras for a different industry?

Usually no. The camera decides what can be resolved, and the model decides what is detected. A 4MP camera at the right pixel density serves a factory gate and a society gate equally well. What changes between industries is placement, lens choice, lighting and which models you activate on the Edge Box.

Can IndoAI work on the CCTV we already have?

Yes, in most cases. The Edge Box takes RTSP streams from existing IP cameras and connects to analog systems through an encoder. That is the normal starting point across every industry on this page, and a site survey often reduces the camera count rather than increasing it.

How many AI models can run on one site?

The platform carries more than 65 models and multiple models can run against the same camera. The practical limit is decode and inference capacity on the appliance, not the licence. Sizing is done per site against the actual stream count and resolution.

What happens to the video, and where is it stored?

Inference runs on the on-premise appliance. Full-resolution video stays on site on your own recorder or storage. Where cloud services are used for dashboards or model updates, data is held in India. Sites capturing identifiable people also need a consent notice under the DPDP Rules from 13 November 2026.

My sector is not on this list. Can you still help?

Yes. The listed sectors are the ones where we can point at a specific constraint we have solved. If your sector is not here, describe the site in the AI Adviser and it will scope cameras, appliance and models from the live catalogue anyway.
